There are still reds in ARgyll, and I've been told there are some near here, but I haven't seen any yet. The Formby ones are famous - been on telly! Never knew about them when I lived in Liverpool, unfortunately, or we'd have taken the boys......

For a rare animal i have come across them quite a few times.
I nearly ran over one in a minibus in the Lake District - the kids I was with thought I demonstrated excellent reaction, in the Scottish Borders my dog chased one up a tree behind our caravan and I have seen them on Brownsea Island in Poole Harbour but the only ones I have been able to photograph are the Formby ones. If you go to the quieter parts of the reserve and just keep quiet with a few peanuts they will come to you.

You could not design a prettier soft toy could you? Gogs i really envy you having those in your garden. To photograph a truly wild one you have done so well - i know how fast these things move.

Great picture Gogs! Although we only live about 200 meters from some woods and have lived here for 30 years, we only ever saw a squirrel in our garden once or twice in all this time - until recently! Hubby and our neighbours have seen one in the neighbours garden several times but I was always out of luck until several weeks ago, and then I saw two of them! I was in the house and watched them running along the fence to another neighbours garden and then dashing up and down the acacia, stopping for a pause now and then so I could see them very clearly and from a distance of about 10 meters. I was afraid to move to get the camera in case they saw me and be frightened away. Unfortunately, I have not seen them since, but fingers crossed they will be back.

Gogs, somehow I missed Cyril ... what a darling! Is he still visiting?

    I don't think I've ever seen a squirrel here ...
