    Shiney it is really a small Thrush,just happens to have red wing bars.:D

    Thanks Strongy, I'll have to take a closer look at the thrushes we get in the garden in case one of them is a redwing :scratch: :)

    Sorry every one I think I am still in the old inches and not metric
    Fieldfare is same size as Mistle Thrush about 10in
    the Redwing is about 8 1/4in as Strongy says about size of Song Thrush :thmb:

    :hehe: Started something now haven't i!! at first glance i thought it was a song thrush, it wasn't until it turned round i saw it was a redwing, Strongy we haven't had any fieldfares for years here either so this was a real plus :thumb:

    Lovely feeling when you something unexpected I had a Goldcrest the other week in my back garden out of this world, never had my camera with me by the time I had got it the bird had done a runner never mind I was so shocked I had never seen one before :thmb:

    Shiney,here is a front and back view of a Fieldfare so you can see what one looks like.Sorry it is so far away but it was the best I could do as I was upstairs when it flew into the garden

    The Black-throated Diver remains on Oulton Broad Suffolk. present since 12th Feb.

    Saw a Peregrine catch a Dunlin on the marshes nearby

    Redwings were migrating back to Scandinavia last night and Fieldfares are moving steadily eastwards, the Fieldfares are diurnal migrants so are easily observed flying eastwards. two Blackbirds duetting at dusk here at home but no morning song heard from them as yet

    I think we are putting creepy crawlies in here as well ...

    I found this mean-looking 9-10cm Centipede trying to get closer to the fire last night ... there is a step down to the fireplace ....
