is my hubby right?

    he thinks that red, green, orange & yellow peppers (like you buy in a supermarket) all come off the same pepper plant, but picked at different times?? :dh:

    I think this sounds absurd! after all, if you picked it when green, wouldnt it still turn yellow/orange/red? but he insists its true. :cnfs:

    please can anyone clarify? thanks :ntwrth:

    Yep, he is right. It's just different stages of ripeness to give a different flavour- if you buy a bag of cheap peppers, you can see the colour turning from one to the other on the same pepper.

    Though having said that, I believe commercial growers use different varieties depending on whether they are destined to be red or green, as some types are better at certain stages?

    Sainsbury's are very clever, they can put three peppers in a bag and they all turn different colours.
