Was sent the link below and asked to pass it on. This is a petition lodged on the 10 Downing Street web site asking for VAT on vet bill to be removed. May not make much difference but anything is worth a try. I was particularly interested as my wife and I paid over £1000 in VAT a few years ago just to keep our dog alive.

So it would be a help if folks would take the time to sign the petition and pass the link on.

Thanks and hope there are no objections to this post.

Yes, it certainly would help! I too have spent vast [for me] amounts of money on treatment for my dogs, to the point where I am scared to take them to the vet.
I hope nobody will say that people should not have pets if they cannot afford to care for them. It's generally accepted now that pet owning is beneficial in all kinds of ways and shouldn't be restricted to the wealthy by care costs.
I have signed, and forwarded to family members as well.

I have signed it. I agree with Liz, the cost of keeping an animal now is ridiculous compared to a few yrs ago. Not so bad maybe for an experienced pet owner to hold off going to the vet but high costs prob stop inexperienced owners from going when they should. I know we think twice before going now :(
Thanks for putting this up Angler

Due to many people now having pet insurance the vets have taken this as a green light to push up their charges to rediculous levels, in a similar way to car repair centres.
VAT is a bind, but its the vets that I tend to blame.
Gordon Brown couldn't give a stuff either way, as long as the money he wants to throw away on daft ideas, keeps rolling in.
