I have about 14 varieties. Over the years I have sent in pics. You can check on them on You tube under Estherredstar.

I have a Hydranger that has been in a pot for about 2/3 years, this year it is looking a bit short on foliage and the flower heads are small, looking a bit old. I am thinking it would do better planted out in the ground now, If I do it now when the ground has been softened by the rain and water it well should it be OK ?

[IMG]Here is one of mine. There are so many varieties. Its worth the study. Not all are blue, pink or red. Some are no taller than 4 foot, some can be trained into a shape of a small tree. Some are lacecap, some cone shaped, some the leaves turn red in the fall. Some haves leaves with 4 colors of green on it, and white.
And not all are effected by the soil PH.

Remember my Dad many years ago loved his Hydrangea's. to change the colour of the Hydrangea's
he would insert rusty metal nails into the ground/pot. cant remember (is this method fact or fiction)

I'd love to be able to grow them. They will not do for me. I am half way up a montain. They grow well in the valley but not in my garden. I am not sure whether it is the clay, dryness, frost trap or a mixture of all three.
