Hello everyone! My friend Anne (Anakat) told me about this site, so thought I'd check it out. I already know her, Ann (Cactus Lady) and Sarah (Sar) so it will seem like home!

Anyway, I've always been an avid gardener - love nothing more than playing in the dirt. I have two lovely kitties and live in Ontario Canada. I think a lot of our zones are the same, so the plants that I can grow should probably be about the same as you in the UK. I look forward to making many more new friends on this wonderful site!

Oh - BTW - my name is Colleen!

Hi Colleen and welcome to GC. I did my first degree at U of T and love Canada (although I think its changed a lot over the years). I do remember however that your winters were a lot colder than here and your summers a lot warmer but I am sure that any gardener will try to grow anything they can get their mitts on. So it will be interesting to see what works for you and what doesn't. So keep us informed. [IMG] [IMG]

Hello LokisMum/Colleen and welcome to GC. You already have your three friends here ... now you'll have more. [IMG]

I notice all of you are cat people ... my sort of folk.

I lived in Montreal and Toronto many, many, many years ago.

    Enjoy!

Thanks for the welcome, everyone! We're in zone 5 here, so a lot of stuff can be grown in the summer but needs to be taken in during the winter! Winters can get quite cold, but the summers are usually fairly warm. I'm a couple of hours east of Toronto on Lake Ontario - beautiful part of the country.
