    Welcome Sandy. Your lucky, coming originally from North London - clay, :( to North of Portsmouth - chalk :( and finally here - very heavy clay, :( I have always been envious of folk with good soil. Enjoy the forum. [​IMG]

    Hi! Actually, we don't have clay! We really do have the greatest soil possible here, sandy loam. I've heard that we're on the bed of a former river, but haven't been able to check the details yet.

    It's true that just a mile or so away to the north, you hit clay again, but we're in a sweet spot where the drainage is superb and anything will grow!
