Ah ! Now if I got a soft haired brush caked it in male pollen, kept it dry and safe, then when a female flower shows up, maybe days later , shake some into it, would that fix the problem ?

Many many thanks for such an informative answer !

Yes Tim. The brush is a common solution.
You can take a little artists paint brush and collect the pollen from the male flowers then brush it round the females flowers. That does the trick.
But usually male and female flowers will appear at the same time and the bees will do it for you. If only if the weather has been terrible and there's no bees about that action is required.
Those courgettes will keep flowering and you'll get your courgettes allright.
But keep a wee brush handy - just in case.

At the moment the flower opens at dawn and starts closing 3pm ish and thats it ! Next day it does not reopen so the opportunity to pollinate for bees or me is short !

Many many thanks for most helpful info.

Last advice Tim. Stop worrying. Courgettes are not tricky. I get so many I can't give them away. Give it time and you'll get them too.

I know, the last time I grew them was 35 years ago *LOL*

This time I have the chance of studying them and the opportunity of learning a lot more about them !

    :)
