Palm tree

    My sons palm tree died during this bad winter. He cut 3/4 of the top and just left 1/4 in ground now there are 4 shoots growing from the bottom at the roots. Can these be taken up and replanted. They are firmly bedded.

    From your description jd it sounds like the 'palm' is a Cordyline not a true palm but nevertheless palm like. A pic would help.
    They usually sucker from around the base but they are not easy to remove and root, best left on the trunk and leave it as multi-headed. Ideally the trunk should be cut back to a foot or so.:)

    These new shoots will grow into a new multi stemmed tree and look fab :)

    Hope your palms are gorgeous already. I was in the same situantion5 years ago, but as whis4ey says, now it looks beautiful! :)
