    Hi everyone,
I posted a couple of days ago in the beginners forum thinking that this was too silly a question for one of the more specialist sections. I made a bit of a mess of putting in the pictures too. However I thought I would try again in the roses section and see if I got a response.

Basically, we have a back garden that hadn't been touched for at least 13 years when we moved in last year. A lot of the garden needs to be totally changed, but a couple of things that are wonderful, are some roses that have grown in the top third of the garden. However I don't know what they are, nor do I know when to prune them. I would definitely like them to stay when we do up the garden, but would just like to neaten them up a bit, and make sure they stay healthy.

Here are some pictures.... [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

If anybody could ID the roses, and also give me a hand on when to prune them etc then that would be fantastic.
    Thanks
    xx

Hi Ducastaing, don't know about the lovely single one, but the pale pink one in the right forground of pic 3 looks a lot like "New Dawn" to me.

Hi Ducastaing It is very difficult to identify a Rose By a photo as the colours are not always true, I can only go with what I think and I would be foolish If I mislead you as there are at least 6500 different Varieties But here goes
I think that the pale pink Rose in the second Photo Could be New Dawn .In the first Photo Could be Geranium an Old rose ,Not much help I know but I am sure one of our other friends will
also help us both out. [IMG]

Thanks to you all for the responses. New Dawn seems to be the consensus for the pale rose then.

I totally understand that it is hard to ID from a photo, especially due to colours not being true. From what I remember of the flower colour, the colours do look fairly close (unlike some pictures I took of flowers in the pyrenees where they flower was pink in real life and bluey-purple in the picture)!

Bobj I am sorry about that I know most Roses like a pH level of 6.5 or just on the margins, usually If the pH level is 7 I usually add some Lime Or Mushroom Compost don't give up on them they can give back so much. [IMG]
