These are the Mini Roses purchased from Lidls couple of months ago they have taken off... interesting tho these are the white ones, the other tubs have pink and red in them not quite so vigorous at the moment all planted in the same compost they all put on a fantastic show for a few weeks till the torrential rain.

Most plants sold as minatures have growth inhibitors when they are planted out this wears off and the plants revert back to normal size.

    Love the pots, rosietu.

I have lots of mini roses because they are just so gorgeous.

I do agree with walnut, however, regarding their growth. As long as they are in pots they stay small and you just trim them to keep in shape. For several years my Sunseeker, a scented irridescent rose was kept in pots, first on the IoW and then here. It is / was an 18 inch patio miniature. I then decided to plant it in the ground and in it's second year it is now over six foot tall and a climber ... I'm not complaining as it's an absolute beauty and I probably would not have been able to buy it as it is now.

They sell micro-roses around here and they really do stay small. On the minis it depends on the variety, many do stay small. One time I planted a big garden and the people wanted all rare types of conifers and trees. So I got some really nice and expensive things and it came out great. There was a little money left over in the budget and as I was walking out of the Big Box store with mulch I saw some nice orange/coral mini-roses and decided to grab two dozen. I planted them along one of the walks and whenever people would visit the garden they would walk by the unusual exotic (different, not garish) plants and comment on the roses. Never failed.

Are Mini Roses the same as Patio Roses. I've just been given one and didn't want to admit that I knew smeg-all about them. I've found plenty of info about Patio Roses on the 'net, just wondered if they're the same [IMG]

    Hello cajary. [IMG]

I'm certainly not a rose expert, but I have both mini and patio. Mini ones usually come planted four to a pot, patio one to a pot.

As digital flower says above, mini ones can really stay mini, even if planted in the ground. However, as I mentioned further above, patio can revert back to their natural state.

Just remember, roses are outdoor plants.
