Im new to growing Roses, or actually growing most things in general hee hee. :D Anyway, my rose has been flowering like there is no tomorrow and i noticed last time, when i posted pictures Dendrobium mentioned that i should make sure that i deadhead the old flowers. I've been doing this but the new shoots don't seem too happy, they look a bit brown and i am not sure if this is normal or not.

The rose bush itself is still producing new buds and looks generally in good health.
I just wondered bout the deadheading thing....? [IMG]

I grow lots of roses ....although lately they have all been bleached and dried out by the constant hot sun ....however, when I dead head, if its a cluster of fowers I simply cut off the dead head ....then once the whole cluster has finished / or in the case of a single head ...I cut at the second leaf axil down from the bloom .....I have roses flowering from March/April (depending on the weather) until December ....normally !! Also we should point out a fair few roses produce lovely hips, so at least leave a few on the plant to find out if you are lucky in this respect.
