Climbing rose that won't flower.

I planted a new climbing rose in the spring and it has done really well. Plenty of new growth and lovely healthy leaves, but not one single flower. Is it possible to get a rogue plant that doesn't flower, or is it just perhaps because it has been so busy putting on new green leaves that it won't flower until next year. It has a perfect position, in half sun against a wall.

 

Shell, very strange, is it in ground and has good depth and what did you feed ?..if at all.... there is a special Rosefood ....

Strange indeed - but if its showing lots of new growth its healthy - perhaps a little too healthy. Have you been feeding it as well as watering - if so what with? and how often watering?

Unlikely to be a rogue, more likely that it sees no need to flower as its too comfortable.

 

Hi Shell. Like you i planted two new climbing roses in the spring. One has grown three qaurters up the rose arch and hasn'nt flowered.The other has hardley reached the second rung of the arch, and bore three huge roses, but only one at a time.
