I found the flood protection came up if I was trying to do two posts one straight after another, like when we were chatting on wakey wakey in the old days...It was as if the computer or GC site couldn't keep up with the speed of posting,so would put up the flood protection to make us wait the 60 seconds before it allowed us to re post the message...

I also have it happen but I do post quickly sometimes, even with PMs. I'm not 100% sure it's to do with the overall GC scene but the individual.

I have never had this problem, maybe It's that I'm not a prolific poster, but it does seem strange.....the plot thickens....

One problem I have had for a few weeks now is that I see that someone has posted when I look at the front list on the site, say the post that Dag has posted above, but when I come onto the thread there is just the last one which would be Roders post.I have to go back, then forward again, before I see the post.Even if I have a PM and go to look at it,is doesn't appear,so i have to go backwards then forwards before it shows it's self.It is most annoying, but I don't know what to do to put it right...I seem to be in some sort of time slip...So flooding for me would be a minor headache... :(

    Kandy,

From what you are describing, a simple 'refresh' of the page would do the trick.

With regards to the flood protection, it is in place so people cannot post 60 posts per minute etc. Having no flood protection can open GC up to all manner of troll attacks etc.

With a 60 second FP , trolls would be spotted and stopped, without too much damage happening to the site.

Imagine having 2 pc's at home, with multiple 'Internet Explorers' open with messages entered that just need the click of a mouse on 'Post Reply' ....... Instant mayhem !!

Please try and observe whether you have posted within the last 60 seconds, as I would tend to think of this as the main reason, as I have only ever had FP happen to me, when I have tried to enter replies sooner than the prescribed time limit.

Don't get me wrong, it can be changed, but it is in place to safeguard the site [IMG]

    Hope this helps.

Thanks Nathan, but this is spooky because it now appears to have corrected it's self without me having to click on the 'refresh' button.I shall see how it goes... :D :D

Thanks nathan, I suppose now that you have explained the situation regarding trolls its a safeguard and will try and be a bit more patient when replying to posts.
