I love my plants and when I see one get ravaged by a disease or stupid pests I feel sad.
I looked at one of my plants which I had bought from my parents place the week before. At their place the plant was healthy without problems. Yesterday it looked like it was wilting and the leaves were dying and falling off.
On closer inspection I found a lot of what looked like white almost feathery flecks on most of the leaves. A little sticky. They're not white flies because nothing flew off when I touched the plant.
Having no idea what it was but fearing for my other plants I put this plant outside last night. Even though its cold its better out than in.
I looked at it today and it didnt look good. In addtion to the numerous white flecks it now has numerous small insects that look like spiders with small webs.
Couple of questions: What is attacking my plant? IS there anything I can do to help/save it? And would putting it out in the cold kill these bugs or do I need to wait for ladybugs to come to its rescue?

    Thanks!!!

Thanks for the welcome. Unfortunately I don't know what the plant is called and I've just called my parents. They don't know either. I could take a picture on my phone and transfer it onto the computer if it was helpful?

Well it may help. Different pests/diseases attack different plants. So if you can put a pic on photobucket and link to it, we may have a better idea.

I've taken the photo on the phone. Now just need to find the cable to upload to the computer. As soon as I have then will post it. Unfortunately I couldn't get a close up of the plant showing the problem but hopefully that won't be necessary.

At a guess without a picture it sounds like red spider mite (which can be red green,or black)they like a dry atmosphere so try spraying the plant with soapy water and squishing them with your fingers will upset their modus operandi (try not to bruise the leaves).

Or wooley aphids, though I would have thought it was a bit early - again soapy water gets rid of them.
