Though I'm told I have a lovely garden, one criticism is that there's a lot of foliage and not many flowers. My problem is a slug population of plague proportions and a hatred of killing things. So I tend to only grow perennial flowers that are resistant to slugs. So far I've only accumulated this sad little list. Can anybody add more flowers that don't go munch in the night.

    I defy you evil slug!
    Lychnis coronaria
    Schizostyllis coccinea
    Sedum
    Verbena.bonariensis
    Perennial wallflower
Foxglove - munched but not destroyed
Primulas - muched but not destroyed
    geranium
    Echinacea
    Roses

    I am slug fodder
    Lupin
    Coreopsis
    French Marigold
    Hosta
    Aubretia
    Morning Glory

    Can I add:
    Pulmonaria (lungwort)
    Asters
    Crocosmia
    spirea (shrub)
My Cornish slugs don't eat these. If I think of any more I'll let you know.

    Thanks folks [IMG]

    Any more would be welcome.

Funny, I was musing about Crocosmia today and thinking it might be a likely candidate. I'm glad to hear that it is.

Sorry NurseWhen I just saw this. You mention crocosmia. Does it matter if slugs/snails like them? I was given about 10 crocs a couple of years ago. I now have 10,000. I'm thinking of planting them round other plants in the hope that the slugs only see them and not the valuable ones. :D :D

I thought that the Crocosmia were on the 'I defy you evil slug' list, which makes them very desirable in my garden where entire plants vanish overnight and I can't sleep for the sound of munching.

Are you saying they should be on the fodder list?

This time round, I'm trying to save myself the heartache and wallet ache that I suffered in my back garden where expensive new plants were regularly reduced to skeletons within hours.
