Whilst doing some seasonal cutting back and tidying today (in the drizzle!)I noticed a lot of little white flys that flew off when I disturbed the plants...

Any ideas? has anyone else noticed anything similar?

Always some about, for severe infestations spray with soapy water.

Stingo, plenty of whitefly about here at the moment in my greenhouse attacking my tomato plants!

But as it is so late in the season, I am not that bothered!

I have had problems with whitefly in the greenhouse in the past on the tomatoes. I did not want to use insecticides, well not persistent ones anyway. I had heard about using French marigolds and i was not entirely convinced but i thought i will give it a whirl. i grew a few from seed specifically - I am not a fan of them but they are so easy and cheap. I planted French marigolds with the tomatoes in the Growbags.
Well either they do act as a deterrent or its a coincidence but this year I did not see a single whitefly for the first year ever. So its worth my while trying it again.
