These are Costoluto Fiorentino plant that I grew indoors this season since they seem to be very vulnerable to pests outdoors. What is wrong with these? They start turning black almost immediately. Any help appreciated. Thanks very much.

    Hi Impactco,
A picture would be most appreciated. Difficulty to hazard a guess without one.

    Hi impactco,
It looks vaguely like blight, but if its only the fruit and not the stems and the leaves then its probably not that.
    Are the fruit still firm?
Have you grown that variety before?
Its not one of those novelty types with black fruit is it?

Hi Impactco ans welcome, from what I can see of the actual plant it looks free of blight so I think that what your Tomatoes have is blossom end rot. It is caused if the soil/compost is allowed to dry out especially when the fruit is swelling. Needless to say, there is no treatment. David.

Here is a photo of some of the leaves that are curling as well as a closeup of a green fruit.

The fruits on this variety are normal color. The dark areas are soft on the fruit. I have grown these before with no problems and the plants that were outside this season did not have this issue.

Since the center of the fruit is not affected, could this still be end rot? The plants have been watered almost every day so the soil has not dried out.

Not sure what it is but I have had the same this year. I just keep an eye on it and cut out affected leaves and stems and remove the affected fruit asap. Seems to have kept it at bay. The yield this year has been really good.

Judging from your last pic impactco, I still think it could be blight, the leaves are affected as well.
Why are you growing them in side in southern california?
We get that problem outside here.

The temperatures here have been very high here so I just thought they might do better indoors.

Thanks very much to everyone for your advice.

Hi impatco : if it wasn't that you said you are growing the tomatoes indoors, I would have said that surelly they have been subject to frost.
