pest??

    hi all new to posting on this forum but have been viewing for a few months i have been finding these small worm/centipede like things in my veg patch and allotment and cannot find out what they are so thought some of you more experienced people might know. they are upto 1 1/2 " long move quite fast and are about 2 mm thick oh and i only find them when digging.and dont know if they are a pest or not?

    What colour are they? If they are reddish brown with lots of legs then they are centipedes. They eat pests so are good allies. Generally things that eat pests move fast, pests such as millipededes are slow.

    ahh might be baby centipedes but they are like a cream color? someone said they are wireworms but they dont look anything like wireworms on google images. lots of the little blighters in me soil see dont want em eating me spuds

    they are garden centipedes cracked it now, no pics of them on google images but hey thanks guys :D

    Couldn't they be a cream colour if they have just moulted their skin? Just a thought. Remember if they can't half shift then they are probably good guys. Wireworms are dead slow. Ground beetles move fast and they eat all sorts of pests like aphids etc.
