Amongst my Fritillaria I found a number of red/orange beetles about 6mm in length. I have never seen them before any ideas?

Yes Fritillaries are in the lily family so it would be lily beetles. what type of fritillaries are they? I first found one this year on fritillary uva ??something in the greenhouse - I thought something had been eating the flowers. Then I found them on the Fritillary meleagris in the garden. They have moved on to proper lilies. They seem to have preferences. i have collected 12 in one day off my tiger lilies and have found a few on Lilium regale but they don't seem to bother the asiatic lilies. Its a matter of daily vigilance - I always look when passing any lilies or frits. Some have probably bred so soon it will be the larvae. They are disgusting, they cover themselves with their own poo.
