Any ideas for getting them to pack up and move on, preferably out of my garden. I have tried most things to no avail. The mole trap sits fired for action looking at me most of the time, and the other day, seeing some soil pushed up thought I had got one, but no the cheeky begger had just pushed another tunnel round the trap!!I think I am losing the battle.

Hi Well I do know this works for me.Its a bit bizzare,I buried two speakers in their run connected to a old stereo system with the aid of an extention lead and left it on for 24 hours, for two days ,that cured the problem for me,but that was
3 weeks ago have,nt seen any since, heres hoping, its got something to do with the
vibration.BUT PLEASE MAKE DOUBLE SURE ITS- DRY-
And not WET I covered the speakers in plastic to make them as water proof as possible. [IMG]

    Well hello wise old owl.

Thanks for the comment, but as I don't have an old sterio e.t.c. and anyway knowing my luck, the moles would most likely blow me up. I had a thought on the noise idea and will try a musical card in the run.

The vibration theory is interesting WOO.We had a bad mole problem at our last house until the farmer changed the surrounding field from arable to crops. I always presumed he'd killed them but perhaps it was the vibration of the tractors that kept them away???? [IMG]
If it's not such a big space, I suppose you could try doing frequent laps of the garden banging the lawn with something???
Should be a laugh for the neighbours if nothing else!! [IMG] :D

Hire a whacker plate it will iron out the bumps and the vibrations will do their heads in

On behalf of all my furry friends I must protest,
We mean no harm, maybe a little light underground chamber music would be more in keeping with our status. [IMG] :D

I think Walnut the vibrations from the whacker would do my head in first, and wiseoldowl I think you do protest too much, maybe you don't have the little furry friends digging for victory in your garden. The pheumatic drill from Andy sounds good - I'd probably end up in Australia!! but many thanks for all your suggestions and I look forward to any more you can think of.

I put a polite notice on the lawn requesting they pack their bags and move out.

They completely ignored said notice and I was forced to up the anti, so next, I used a stronger tone and informed them they had two weeks to leave before matters would be taken further.

Unfortunately, they took no notice of the notice. I am unable to give details of what happend next for fear of reprisals from their family and friends.

the first thing i discovered in my paddock, before converting it to a garden, was a few mole hills. So reading on the net about them, i planted as advised. EUPHORBIA, and the only variety i had was FENS RUBY. Ok moles moved on very quickly, never to be seen again in the borders. They moved into the old mans field. But now i'm looking for a cure for EUPHORBIA FENS RUBY that has spread everywhere. Solve one prob, got another.

Thanks Compostee, but I have already tried most of the Euphorbia family, including the weed variety Spurge all to no avail, I think my moles are settled in for the duration.

We have voles.last yr they only seemed to be in one side of the plot where i planted peas. They only ever tunnelled to about half way down this strip and i just thought, well, that`s not so bad,i can live with that. This yr they they must be feeling adventurous as they`ve now invaded the main veg bit. It`s like walking on a mine field.I walk up to water baby cabbages and what not, and the ground just collapses on me.The thing is,they don`t eat anything. But you loose your plants anyway!
