Large black patches have appeared in my moss,I assume that it's deseased. I've removed as much of it as possible but I don't want to get rid of the moss completely, is there anything I can spray it with to save it?

Hi Saramol, are the black patches slimy ? if so then you have algae. Is the moss in a lawn or a moss bed ? I ask because the treatment for algae is the same as for moss, that is, it needs to be treated with moss killer and the area wants to be aerated. David.

    Hi David

Thanks for your reply. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, I've had PC problems and have only just been able to get back online.

In answer to your questions, no, the patches aren't slimy, in fact, they're quite dry, even after rain.

The moss covers quite a large area of rockery and I really don't want to lose it if at all possible.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks again

    Sara

Moss does not like Nitrogen fertilizers, Ammonium Sulphate will kill it,(especially with added Ferrous Sulphate).
