I have a climbing rose at the back to the garden. As the years have passed the trees around it have become bushier and so the area is more shaded. About a week ago this rose was flourishing spreading everywhere. Today, I had a look and nearly all the roses have shrivelled up. I suppose this is due to the really hot weather and lack of rain we have had. Do you agree? Do you think that if I water it really well tomorrow, it might pick up and sort itself out - or has it just died overnight?

Hi Butterfield You could try watering it ,normally I would say that it is in competition with the tree roots,Roses do need at least 6 hours of sun on average, but as you say it was fine a week ago,Water only in the evening as less will evaporate at night, and one good watering is better than several light watering's,by the way what Rose is it.:thmb::)

Sorry, don't know what rose it is other than it is a rambler (pale pink). I have been watering it a bit more than usual, but as we are on a water meter I can't leave the hosepipe running just on one plant for ages. I will water a reasonable amount, dead head and hope for the best.

Good evening Butterfield ,if possible remove the shrivelled Buds down to the next eye bud and maybe some mulch round the base if you can get to it, something which will retain the water:)
