    Anyone know what this is? It has self seeded in my herb patch and I vaguely remember buying it. It has no scent that I can detect. Many thanks :D

    This splendid herb is Elecampane and one of the most powerful in Anglo-Saxon times.

    hornbeam is the white one rocket ?

    Don't think so, Wildflower. It has five petals and I think that all of the rockets have only four. It looks almost like a phlox.

    well is it geranium maculatum..the albiflorum one has white flowers

    No, sorry. My fault - I should have included the leaves; they are straight like willowherbs I shall have to Google herbs and see what comes up. Thanks

    Is it Dame's Violet Hornbeam - comes in white and purple. Stands about 3 foot.

    No, Fran - I have Dame's Violet and that has four petals. As Jay says, this looks a lot like soapwort, but I thought that was always pink. I'll see if I can get a lather from the leaves. [​IMG]

    nardostachys grandiflora ?
    jasmium officinale argenteovariegatum ?
    have now looked all the way through the rhs book of herbs and if its none i have mentioned then i suppose it could be an edible or a wildflower..but if it was a wildflower i am sure you would know it..grrrrrrrrrrrrr
