The Cordy will self seed everwhere so do you need the offshoots?
Must admit I've never see them growing out of the trunk.

:D Garden has been pretty much ignored of late, a lot of stuff is pretty crunchy:o although not terminally so. I noticed the trunk had nodes of sorts last week, these have gone mental in the hot weather !

The same thing is happening with mine. There are some at the bottom of the trunk and some half way up.
The top of the tree looks pretty awful following the awful winter, but it is flowering.
I wondered if the top might die off and be replaced by these new shoots??? No idea really, and not sure what to do with it.

I'd just cut off the ones you dont want flush with the main stem, otherwise it could turn into a forest.

It's probably reacting to what ever is happening at the top of the plant, which might be flowering to death.

Pete - that's the second time today I have read about all these cordys flowering themselves to death. Is this the end for a lot then? Those that weren't killed by the cold are going to be toasted by the flowers? :dh:

Mine have been in glorious flower this year, I wonder whether I should have enjoyed them whilst they lasted?!
