Hi. Does anyone use/know of an automated system for delivering controlled and timed quantities of liquid plant food? I am not asking out of laziness, although I am never one to pass up a labour saving opportunity. Mainly I am asking because I am conscious that my current reliance on a watering can every weekend or two is both uncontrolled and considerably wasteful of plant food.

I use a Hozelock "pod" dripper system connected to a timer for delivering water, which seems to work well for me, is pretty much effortless and results in minimal water wastage. Upfront hardware cost was a bit steep, but my attempts to use a cheaper system initially was just money down the drain. Anyway, Hozelock tell me that they have no add-on for injecting plant food into it.

I have seen a cheap and cheerful watering system that consists of cones that you screw onto plastic bottles filled with water, which you stick cone-down in the plant pot, but these are a one-speed solution that delivers the goods too fast for feeding, being designed for watering rather than feeding.

Rather missed the season for this, now, but looking forward to next spring.

Use osmocote granules or tablets. This is what most nurserys use.

Hi, thanks for that feedback. Sounds nice and simple. I like simple. Will give it a go.
