Compostool...There has been chat on G.C. about how to turn compost in PVC bins. Well, I was given this today and it works a treat. SIMPLEFIT.LTD:SO4 4DY.
You shove it into the compost and the fins allow easy aeration of the contents. It really makes the job so easy!
It was part of a job lot from a closing down sale at my brothers Garden machinery centre. It retailed at £1.50. The suppliers name is under my pic.
Do you reckon it's strong enough, Pal? I tried out one of those weed twister things, and after half a dozen dandelions it broke..... so I'd be a bit suspicious of this until I'd seen it in action for a while. After all, turning compost is a heavy job, as we all know!
I grant you it looks flimsy, but it really is easy to lift out of the heap and stirs the compost up nicely. The point actually folds flat to the shaft as you push it into the heap. I'll take some pic's at the weekend as I put it through it's paces if you like!
The problem with mine was that the blades folded when you pushed it in and opened when you tried to pull it out. So it stuck and pulling simply snapped the end off. Probably depends on the consistency of the compost and how much the heavier stuff had broken down. Its a good idea and if it could be made stronger, it should be a great help in getting usable compost quicker.
 My heart bleeds for poor Mrs Macleaf! First those thoughtful presents, then the lack of sympathy re landing in the pond, and now you turn your compost in her washing machine!
Well she dosnt use it, as she uses the washboard down at the stream :D :D :D By the way hope you are well
