I was in local d-i-y shop and he sharpens his tools with a handheld electric gadget , it costs sixty quid and has a rotating sandpaper belt about a quarter of an inch wide , it did a super job, and can be used instead of a chisel for woodworking ..... it was black and decker, i wanted to look for one on ebay, but don't know what it is called!!

not really pete, that looks like a drill with lots of special tools, the only thing is that it does mention a sanding paper only 2 cm wide, so that could make it the thing, i will need to go to a big B&Q and look for one

Was it a sanding disc or a miniature grinding wheel?

its an endless belt of sandpaper rather than a circular disc of sandpaper, no backin pads, of course it may have several functions, bells and whistles, there is no wheel for grinding

Is it an elongated rather than circular belt?
And what do you want to use it for?
