    Hi there

Anyone point me to online help in servicing a lawn mower.

It shouldn't be too dificult given that I work on my own cars.

Got the blade off to sharpen, filter / oil / spark pulg to change, lube the cables - but i'm a bit stuck when it comes to tuning it up.

    to give you a start - http://www.ext.colostate.edu/ptlk/2015.html

I presume it's a petrol one, given that it has oil, etc!
Presume you didn't get a booklet with it? If not, try the manufacturers - couldn't find their site myself - but will have another shot. Good luck!

    hi, thanks for the info.

quite usefull - but i need more tech help

i.e. how to maintain the drive belt, setting the carb up.

Its unlikely that I'll break something - but its cheaper to research first!

If you can identify what type of carb it is (they all work differently) try Googling for a carb set up site. As a very general rule, given the very limited running time a mower gets, you shouldn't need to do much to the carb other than clean out any grass in the air filter and possibly any gunge in the float chamber.

If it is a cylinder mower the best way by far to sharpen the blades is by "back lapping". This involves turning the blades backwards against the sole plate and using grinding paste to ensure a perfect match between the blades and plate.

They do a lawnmower manual, covering many popular makes. www.haynes.co.uk about Ã?£15 or try the library. [IMG]

Also, check out the titles in their 'family manuals' series.
