i'm thinking of making or buying a compost bin, and this may sound stupid, most plastic bins have no bottoms, do you put them on to soil or a hard standing area?

    Hello

It would be worth checking with your local council before buying one. Lots of councils are now either giving away or subsidising the cost of composters. Good luck

Wish ours would! I rang them a while ago and they said they need all their compost and leaf mold for their own gardening!

My three compost bins are looking a bit cold here. I bought these very cheaply from the council when they were having a recycling drive two years ago. I wish I'd bought more now because they soon get full.
