I bought a small Christmas tree in Sainsburyâ??s Homebase to put on our coffee table over the holidays. Iâ??ve kept it watered and it is thriving. I want to put it in the garage after 12th night to gradually harden it off for planting in a planter later on . In the past we have put our family Christmas trees straight into the ground after hardening them off and they have all grown. Indeed, they are such a size now, that we have a nice grove of trees at the far end of our garden.

We will be moving to a smaller house in the late spring early summer and I want to take this little one with us. Iâ??ve noticed that it is dreadfully pot bound. I donâ??t know what to do. Should I leave it or re-pot it asap?

I'd leave it in the same pot until its acclimatised and then about early April repot it if you want to.

You could maybe just feed and water well for a few months, if your likely to be planting out before summer next year.
