    So this is defintely NOT a Melia (azedarach) then?
    Pity...
    But thank you for clarifying the matter of Melias-not-growing-in-Scotland-due-to-the-weather
    *I will still try to find plants from my country that DO grow here though!*

    Hi, gardengnm. I'm going to photograph a Melia in bloom as they are at the moment here, so this thread is not dead!

    May I ask where your country is? We could help (?????) further?

    I don't think they solve anything, LoL, but it's good to see them, showing so clearly what the ones I found on-line didn't - that the branches are quite definitely alternate, not opposite. So we're still in the same position, that a rowan is the more likely, and probably the Joseph Rock cltivar, but we'll just have to wait until the leaves show. They're similar, but not so much so that we couldn't tell which is which.... if you follow? Not so sure I do, and I wrote it! :D
