    Hi folks.
I shop online at Tescos. A few weeks ago they'up graded' their web site and since then they would not accept my credit card.
The card was fine and the help line admitted they were having the same problem reported by many others....after three calls I was advised to change my server to Firefox and resign up. I did so and things are fine.
I wonder why this was necessary and how many customers they have lost who perhaps didn't want to change servers or couldn't...could it be a security issue maybe?? BTW,their shopping site is very basic and any upgrade they did doesn't show that much.

I often shop online. One of the problems I have found is that some websites require "Verified by Visa", so I signed up for that.

Now I find that if I haven't used the verification for a month it locks me out, my answer to that is to find the product somewhere else. At least I don't have that problem with Amazon.

Firefox is superb for security.. I do all my on-line browsing & shopping through Firefox Mozilla Pal & I am very pleased with the extra security it gives... :yho: As opposed to IE

We shop online, Amazon, ebay and many others and usually have good service, recently and strangely Firefox slowed down so much we've gone back to IE.

I use Firefox and sometimes use Seamonkey as well. I haven't noticed any slowing up. I use a Linux OS so maybe it's a Windows problem.

Don't forget that congestion on the Internet can also slow things up and that can happen anywhere on the line, also a heavily used site may not have enough ports to carry the traffic. It's a bit like phoning the surgery in the morning when they first open, you keep getting the "engaged" tone.

Shop online all the time. Much easier, than getting in the car, driving etc. And you can do it anytime. My day light hours are spent in the gardens. By the time night comes, too tired to shop (hate it anyway). And besides working full time, who has the time to shop.l That reminds me must check Overstock, com for diamond earrings.

i shop on line regular and have had quite a few bargains on line. i find it a great way of shopping.
as i hate shopping with crowds pushing and shoving, as if they were getting the goods for nothing .
i have found it worthwhile registering after a purchase on line and regular e/mails are sent from the company of any discounts on future purchases. i find the security is very good . one bargain i got was a LAWN MOWER cost £78. 3 months later i recieved an e/mail from another company selling the same MOWER cost £147 !!!. i also find you can find on line a lot of items you cannot purchase in the local shops it gives you a wider choice . music. .

My last on line purchase was a mower from Amazon. It was cheaper than B&Q even with the "Wednesday 10% senility discount" and postage free. I've used them a lot.
In the past I've found them excellent with any goods which prove faulty, they always refund your money and your return postage.

I also buy quite a bit of stuff through ebay. Mostly vinyl records from America, though I have bought or sold a couple of saxophones, a flute and various saxophone accessories. "Proper" music shops are disappearing fast.

Lots of small firms use ebay and there's some very good deals to be had.

For example, new paddles for the drum of our washing machine.
My "pop up" sprinklers., even some koi.
I recently bought a new stand in a sealed box for a TV I bought elsewhere, for £50 less than the shop from where I bought the TV. The same stand!
They even asked me which day I wanted it delivered.

I've also this year bought a second hand Leak 2000 tuner/amp, as another I make had which I used to play my CDs and LPs through "gave up the ghost after 38 years."
It cost me £32 and it's in perfect condition.

    I always pay by Paypal.

Never had a problem with ebay.

    Never buy groceries "on-line."
As most groceries we buy are "fresh foods" we like to see what we're buying. We use Tesco's, Sainsbury's, M&S and Waitrose for different purchases.
The latter is a bit of a ritual as on Saturdays, we always have our lunch out, then go shopping there and have coffee in their cafeteria in the afternoon before returning home.

    yes, I shop on line.
    Never had a problem.
I buy everything from gardening things to cheap flights to hotel bookings - at home and abroad.
It always seems to work out well for me, and cost less than purchase by any other method,
I use Firefox without problem, but could use IE if there was any.

I recently purchased the "cheap" green hosepipe from Polhill, 60m for £16.99. It was rubbish, kept kinking on the reel. So I ordered a "professional" yellow hosepipe from Amazon, 60m for £15.99 plus £4.95 packing and carriage. The same one at Polhill was £38.99.

Whatever you do, don't order your groceries from Amazon.
A reporter in the Mail tried their new sevice. Her stuff came in five different deliveries and the delivery charge was £92. Tesco's was a lot cheaper and charged less than £5

Hi Doghouse .this was on t/v about the delivery charges from Amazon. Amazon strongly denied these charges ,saying "when an order is put through the customer will only be charged
one delivery charge,as it is not the customers fault that stocks have to be ordered from a different storage area." but to charge 5 separate delivery charges is Abhorrent .
    music .

Hi Music, to be fair, it was the Daily Mail.

I've never had a problem with Amazon. Their "free delivery" service for products you'd normally associate with them usually arrives within one or two days. Their prices are good and if you have to return a faulty item, they refund all of your money plus the cost of the return postage.

Just bought a back up, cordless, extending hedge cutter from Amazon.

Gtech Power Blade Pro 18 Volt Cordless Telescopic Multi-Tool-GTCHT04: Amazon.co.uk: DIY & Tools

I've a lot of hedge, so it's in addition to my large mains cutter, but at £40 (instead of £80) and including a free grass trimmer attachment (listed at £30.61) it seemed a bargain not to be missed. (That offer seems to have ended now:()

Ordered Tuesday, hedge cutter came Thursday and trimmer was despatched Thursday and is tracked at being out for delivery today - all free delivery. Can't lose.

Reviews seem reasonable too especially as I only intend to use it for soft cutting.
