I have three parts to my garden and it needs a lot of work doing before its up to scratch. I'll take some pictures so you get some idea of what it's like at the moment - this might even help me appreciate the finished piece when its done - before and after!

The front garden is a rectangular piece of dirt with bushes around the edges. I've recently taken the grass off the top and levelled it all off as Iwant a mixture of a herb garden and some nice pretty flowers. I have waiting to be planted - Petunia (white), Begonia (peach/pink and white), Pansies (which I'll have to put slug pellets around?) and a lovely Rosemary. I had lavender, houseleek, mint, thyme, parsley and white sage but unfortunately they didn't survive the move from my old house. I plan on replacing them soon.

So as far as the flowers go I want colour coordination. I can't decide whether I want pink/purple/white or a brighter orange theme. Is it possible to have both without looking too messy? Ideas?

I'm not sure whether to put herbs with flowers or keep them seperate. I want to surround the plants with wood chippings to keep weeds to a minimum and was thinking about having a centre piece in a circle of stones. Eventually I want a dwarf apple or pear in the centre but for the moment...is it difficult to relocate plants without killing them?

So I want the front garden to be my flower garden and this is the main one I'll be posting about although the other two will get a mention (I live on a corner house so have a back yard and side garden).

Briefly my plans for the other two -

the side garden will be kept grassy for the most part although I'm hoping to create seperate levels as we live on a slope. At the bottom we will have a drive. The backyard needs all the paving slabs taken up, the ground to be levelled and a little fence so next doors dog wont get in and pee all over the turf I want down.

I'm hoping to put garden chairs/table somewhere (maybe a bench like in beer gardens) but haven't worked it out properly yet. Hopefully I'll be back later with pictures to give you a better idea.

Feel free to give me your ideas - even if they don't go with my own. This project is open for anybody to contribute ideas to. I'm in need of inspiration!

    Hope I haven't bored you :D

Here are some pictures of the stunning countryside around my house. I don't want to let the side down so want my garden to be just as beautiful. Maybe I can even use the countryside for inspiration?

    Here you go...

Hi Witchy and Welcome to GC.You have a lovely outlook. The hills in the second photo look almost like Froggat and Curbar where I have often walked on day trips up to the Peak District with my husband.Such a beautiful place

As Woo says there are a lot of members on here that will be able to help you plan and plant up your garden and to use the views you have as an extension to your space.Good luck [IMG]

Well I am on the base of the peaks ;)

Started weeding the front garden today with a little help and almost weed free but then came the rain! Pouring down. Typically it stopped quickly but I have guests for tea tonight! [IMG]

I will have to do some more tomorrow. I'm planning on laying some old stones from the back in a cirle formation at the front. Waste not want not! ;)

Hi Witchy and welcome, I think you have some stunning views there. As far as your ideas for the front garden are concerned I think that bright orange amongst pinks and purples would be fantastic,( I would not use white it is such a negative shade ). David.
