...Well you would think it was!! These are my early stages of my dream garden. It looks great on paper? I'm doing all the work myself, learning as I go. It's good fun but slow in this heat! Hopefully won't be to long until I can post another photo. Regards - Nik [ 19. July 2006, 04:10 PM: Message edited by: nikthomas ]
Nice mate, I can see great jungle potential. Did you do the circles youself or did you get a UFO in? :D Big fan of lawn circles and raised planters. BM
Hi Nik Pah!!!! Call that a bombsite???!!!! You haven't seen my dust bowl!!!! (I am mid way through having mine re-built, but we have had to get someone in to do it for us) I can see the potential in your plot - can't wait for the "after" pics. All your own work too!!!! Have you got any plants yet? We are going for the Jungle look and have so many pots all around and in the greenhouse waiting to go in the ground. I have a selection of Bananas, colocasia, palms, hostas,a few climbers and not forgetting the Tree Fern (pot propped up by breeze blocks!!!!) and Gunnera crammed into corners out of the way of the building works!!! What sort of look are you going for?
Hi NikT, looks good so far- are the trampolines etc yours too? HB, I'm waiting to see the work in progress at yours too!
Both myself and my wife really like evergreens, and makes it easier to look after as well, so plenty of ferns, grasses etc. But we've not got any ready yet, that would mean I have to put a completion date down!!!!! I woke up one day and the cirles were just there, were they UFO's who knows? I'd never done any brick work or wood work on this scale, so it's been great learning. Just metalwork to learn next, and electrics, and planting...... I was the regional trampolining champion in 2003, just kdding. No they are not mine, my neighbours. I hope it won't be too long until I can put up some updates!! It's good to know I'm not the only one with a messy garden Honeybee. I keep going thinking of the time I can kick back with a cool beer and enjoy all the hard work in the past.
I've got a couple of piccies I'll post later when I have more time - it'll make you feel sooooo much better!!!! :D :D As for the circles - your house wasn't built on an old corn field, by ay chance!!!???
Nik, It's looking good dude, you've obviously grafted hard. Don't suppose you fancy a free holiday in Cornwall to help me with mine? :D :D
I can't see how people work out in this sort of weather! Hat's off to all the proffesional builders and gardeners etc. that have to make a living working though this.
Yes, Nikthomas, it IS sweltering! I've had several days' worth of heavy work this week, and am still working al weekend - roll on winter!! But you can't deny, it's better than paying to go to a gym!! :D
One days work and the walls will be finished! Still got lots to do, but I am thinking ahead. Does anyone know of a good nursery around the Peterborough area? I refuse to pay Garden Centre prices. I'll put up a new piccie once the walls are rendered. Regards to all - Nik
Strongy - Don't know of anything very near Peterborough, Nik - would you use on-line ones? I've done that with a lot of success. Look forward to the pics!
Hi have you tried a place called Double Yew nurseries just before you get in to Bourne, you turn right at a place called Northorpe. Plants here are good and prices reasonable
