    Hi all
I'm not sure if someone(can't actually be anyone) is having a laugh or what.
If you see on the 25th i replied to egw about some seeds from last year, I think i sowed them along with other new ones on Wed, hb thinks yesterday morning.

Anyway, today i have noticed a really tiny little shoot coming up in the tray that has dahlias & marigolds in. it is so tiny it has no 'head' (leaves) on it & i thought it might be a piece of green thread or something. Husband said no way could it be a shoot already. Tonight he came & looked at it, can't be he said. I said ' i don't want to pull it out in case it is', so what did he do  anyway only pulled it so far & flipping heck it's got little roots on. How can that happen? Are we losing the plot [IMG]

I not joking btw. This is way too soon isn't it?

    What's going on?

    cheers

It is possible although Marigolds and Dahlias usually take longer than 2 days, Kochia (Burning Bush) germinates overnight as do some other seeds.
You will have to wait a few more days to be sure. ;)

I planted some seeds late monday afternoon and as soon as I got home from work on Wed I had a look at them and there they are, little plants! little stalks with a couple of leaves at the top of each!

So I would say - yes it is possible!

Dizi, yes i remember your post. No leaves yet but who knows what tomorrow will bring [IMG] That's quick isn't it?

That's what i thought strongy. I have grown marigolds before, i have some downstairs. Unfortunately although i put labels in the tray that i split in half for them (not literally), i'm not quite sure which side this is on. It doesn't look like marigold at the moment but i don't think i've ever noticed one so small before. Yipee!

    cheers

I reckon it's even more exciting when you don't know what plant it is!

There is a strain of dahlia that germinates very quickly. They are known as Urli Wan-nites.

A lot of the fun of growing seeds is the excitement of examining them each day to see just what has germinated overnight. Its still a small miracle to me.

Sandra my dahlias and tomatoe seeds that I sown last Sunday have started to come up too although they took a little longer than yours, but as yourself I'm really quite chuffed....just don't know where I'll put the blooming things though I think I maybe got a little too eager sowing away! I think the few days of 'Spring' we had has helped everything along. Just hope this weekend doesn't mess it all up - so far so good here [IMG] Hope it's the same for you all.

Helen, Ray grew some toms & pots last year (& before) but isn't bothering this year. I'm going to see if i can get something going without him knowing (no chance, he's nosier than us :D ) but i love home grown veg. Can't beat it.

I think we were all a little eager this year cos it seems a long time coming (sun, weather etc). Could be we're just too impatient cos we love it!

    cheers
