After mixed results from a little plastic greenhouse last year, I'm going to try starting my seeds on the windowsills this year (provided the cats don't try to sleep on them :rolleyes: ) So far I've planted: Sunflowers Zinnia Antirrhinum Petunia Impatiens Lobelia Pansy Night scented stock Poached egg plant Nicotianna Tomatoes Mr DB is going to plant the rest of the veg seeds tomorrow! Fingers crossed that the slugs don't cotton on to my plan and sneak into the house! :D
DB i'm much the same as you. I have quite a few seeds in my plastic greenhouse, only a couple coming up. suprised any at all in this strange weather. I got a little bargain for growing seeds, �£1.99, will try to post a pic of it, & have that on one of my kitchen windowsills. I now have the following coming up:- marigold stock asters nasturtium i also have antirrinum (missed an h there haven't i)but no sign of them yet. nothing exciting i know, but as this is only my 2nd year, i get excited with anything :rolleyes: cheers
All my seeds started off on the windowsill last year did well, so I'm using the same technique this year. Currently there are: Aster Brugmansia Hibiscus Potentilla Coreopsis Cleome Cosmos Cobea Scandens Aquilegia The cosmos have been pricked out and the coreopsis will be next. I know some of these annuals can be planted straight into the garden, but I like to start a few off indoors just in case! I've put sweet pepper seeds in damp paper in the airing cupboard - worked really well last year.
So exciting - I got home from work last night and the night scented stock seed have started growing already!
Well done dizi, i have some coming up too. My stock is called 'Ten Week', does that mean anything to you? Isn't it great! I just wish the weather was better so i could put some in the greenhouse(well not greenhouse) plastic thing! Then next step out in garden! Hurry up the spring or should i start saying summer? cheers

Know what you mean borrowers, I spend so much time checking out the site my hubby reckons he's now a pc widdower. Since getting 'into' veg growing i'm the same. I've only my sister who has an allotment to talk about gardening with . I come to love it.I'd spend all day out there if i could.
You're lucky marionj, you have your sister to talk to. My hubby likes the fact that i'm 'into' gardening now. Yes, the garden looks better for it, but it's just not that. It's the fact that 'one' has an interest. I see hubby's eyes glaze over sometimes :D but he's the one that gets me the compost bags, lifts the heavy stuff & put's up with me going on, & on, & on, & on..... :D cheers
You keep going on & on b, If you like me and stuck at home why not indulge in something that has so many benefits. Relaxation, fresh air, fresh veg besides a great deal of pleasure and satisfaction. I'm a glutton for all of it. I love digging and getting a nice tilth, ayeup we getting posh here, Love it when I walk out next day with 'fresh eyes, and see what I achieved the day before. As Christine Walkden says 'I eat it, dream it , sleep it, drink it. Love it out there.
