just yesterday put on the plastic cover for the poly grrenhouse we have inherited at our new allotment. am very excited!! (god I really need to get out more!)

as it was third hand at least there are a few gaps in it but hopefully will be ok. I was wanting to grow some peppers, tomatoes and strawberries inside it. I was going to use either gro bags as they were, gro bags ripped in half or grow bags to fill a pot but how many things should i plant into each receptacle and whats a likely yield? want to really know how many I should plant. there is just me and son and girlfriend

personaly i grow two toms per bag ,peppers i grow in buckets ,with the toms i got buckets from the local flower shop cut the bottoms out and push slightly into holes in the grow bag and half fill with compost ,this gives more hight to plant your toms deeper if they are a bit leggy also its a lot easyer to water them and more room for root growth

There was a thread sometime last year where someone (I forget who it was) grew tomatoes or something or other in grow bags but not in the tradional way slit down the middle but stood up so to speak on their bums, if you know what I mean?

I remember it worked incredibly well for them and so cheap to do also as you don't need any containers for the plants to grow in.

I'm sure someone else will remember the thread and will surely give it better info than I have done.Hel.xxx.

[IMG] It was compostee Helen. Took a grow bag & cut it it half & stood each half up. 1 plant to each half for toms I think. Haven't found the thread, but here is compostee's blog. Scroll down until you get to the polytunnel bit & you will see in one of the photos. Pretty fantastic tunnel packed with ideas, the way it all works.

    Hope this helps.. ;)
