I have just cropped a very good broad bean crop and now have 20lb in the freezer.
I would like to follow that with October harvest sugar snap peas.
    Help.
To follow one crop with a similar is not good practice but as it is in the same year can I get away with it?
Do I leave the bean roots in as I assume that they will not provide the nitrogen until the plants break down over winter, thus making it available for the sucsession crop, purple sprouting,
I am a bit short of room at present as everything is growing like triffids. I is enjoying the neglect as I keep going away and leaving them.
A quick answer would be great as I stand here with seeds in hand!!!!!!

As its the same year I would not worry too much - but make sure you do not grow peas/beans for at least a couple of years after that.
Not always easy to leave the broad bean roots in the ground as they often have a habit of resprouting again but not producing much in the way of beans. I'd chop them up and put them on the compost heap. Also the purple sprouting broc. would be better growing 'tough' this side of the winter so its better able to stand the winter weather.

Thanks for that. Seeds are in and re the purple sprouting, if I bring it on in modules and plant out after peas have croped I would be realy maximizing the use of available space. Just remember my fathers addage. Growmore/bonemeal ect is of no use in a bag.
