Onions and Garlic

    I am a newbie to this. Have a question how do I know when to harvest my onions and garlic also do I need to hang these to dry out before eating?

    Hope some one can help me :confused:

    Wait until the tops of the onions fall over, then lift and dry.
    the garlic can be eaten straight away, dry the rest for storage.

    Fresh garlic is lovely, give it a try

    Hi Stokesy, and welcome to the forum.

    Let the garlic leaves yellow as Mark says, but then i leave them for a couple more weeks before lifting them.

    Can't help on the onions front!

    when you have lifted your onions then lay them on top of the soil for a few days to dry out (this is what I have read in magazines).

    Whilst waiting for a few dry days is possible, I would use a table top in my conservatory instead.
