This week's update has now been posted.

Sorry for the delay - due mainly to severe toothache !

Hope you enjoy it! Keep the comments coming .

Nothing worse than toothache, my sympathies :(
Your plots looking really good, despite the demise of the broad beans [IMG] [IMG]
Mine's filling out....slowly! The spuds you sent me are huge and I'm wondering when they'll be ready????
My maincrop spuds are also mahousive and are growing quicker than I can earth them up. Something has decided that my French Beans is their nibblet of choice...haven't caught them at it...yet [IMG] Haven't had to buy lettuce in weeks and I'm really getting a buzz out of this veg malarky. Glad to hear I've spurred on your enthusiasm.
The toothache finally has subsided, and I'm hopeful of a much needed good nights sleep - not had one in 3 days !
I was quite devastated on the broad beans front, and for next year will try and grow them over the winter ? We'll see.

I would have been devastated too  I bet it killed you to dig 'em up....my friend says she hasn't had a decent crop of broad beans for years, they start off well and then they either get eaten overnight or inexplicably keel over. Perhaps they're just a temperamentel veg??? :(

Talking of growing over the Winter...been wondering what to plant when I've harvested my Early spuds. Any ideas????? [IMG]

There's a multitude of options available.

Depending on what space you have, try one or more of :

Winter Cabbage (January King) & Savoy (Ormskirk), White Turnip / Swede, Beetroot, More peas ( Kelvedon Wonder) or (Meteor), more carrots ( Autumn King ? ), Leeks, Cauli & Brocoli.

That should keep you busy !

    Have fun!

It just so happens I have seeds for quite a few of those [IMG] It'll have to be something low-growing because the gales step up in Autumn.. [IMG] mmmmm....decisions, decisions :D
