It's looking fantastic O [IMG] I wish I could get that much done in a weekend (flamin kids and housework keep interrupting me!!)
Hoping to get some half decent weather this week so I can put my Tomatoes out....but the only sheltered spot I've got is the decking and that's rapidly filling up....think a spot of jiggling about is in order  :D The spuds you sent me are romping away and are a good 2 and half foot tall...no more spotty leaves and the slugs appear to have lost interest -yay!!!!
Love your updates, keep 'em coming!!!

    Thanks Windy,

    But all is not well.

I think I'm gonna lose my broad beans...

Just been out to the plot and noticed the stems are turning black!

I discovered a large ants nest at base of the plants.

Not sure if that was the problem or not, but the plants looked so bad, I dug them out today.

Thankfully the companion planted climbing french beans are all ok.

Can anyone else shed any light on this situation ?

Hi, oktarine. We keep coming back to the ant problem in various threads.

The easiest thing to do is to throw your soapy dishwater on your plants, which will not hurt them, but kill the offending critters.

You can do this to fruit, veg or plants, especially roses. Even use it in a sprayer.

Ants, greenfly, whitefly, whatever .. sod the birds who feed on them if they are demolishing your plants.
