Iplanted a new gooseberry bush [bare rooted] last
year.I notice that the bush has grown quite well and has fruited admirably. However quite a few of the berries have dropped off.Do you take some berries off to get a more quality crop?

I have since got rid of my gooseberry bush during a gardening revamp. Had nowhere to put it then. Miss it now. Super yield and all I did each year was prune the inner crossed shoots and cut back new growth slightly. Bit os a devil if the sawfly eggs hatch out and you don't realise til its too late. They can strip the foliage completely in a couple of days. Never noticed fruit drop to any significant extent though.
