you cant find anything at nurseries this time of year there full of xmas rubbish.
Trawl through the catalogues, but they are expensive.

I've checked all local nurseries to no avail.

Has anybody got a decent plant then can split ? I will happily cover the cost via a paypal payment ?

No. It didn't take, but my gooseberry bush is just starting to bud, I will try again.

I did see a gooseberry bush in homebase this weekend if you are desparate!

I'd suggest you take a look in your local Woolworths store as they have fruit trees and some fruit bushes at present. They are also reasonably priced for bare root plants. Aldi stores have also had apple trees and some small fruit bushes this week. Worth a look? I hope this helps.

Hi I'd suggest that you try LIDL next Saturday 3rd March, gooseberries are on sale there for 99p. Amongst a fairly large selection of other plants and gardening equipment.

thanks for that Lesh, we have no LIDL or woolworths in our area but went down to village garden center and paid £2.50 for gooseberry bush for the allotment. this is sad.

Finally got my Gooseberry bush from Wilkinsons today for £2.00 ! I was thinking of planting this against a NW facing fence? Would that be ok ? It's a fairly sheltered spot with not much - if any - direct sunlight. Soil is very good / moisture retentive.

Also picked up a Blackcurrant bush for a quid ! This will go against my westerley facing fence, next to the rhubarb i planted a couple of weeks ago.
