Can anyone tell me how to prevent premature flower drop on kidney beans. I have had excellant plants with masses of flowers early on for the past three years but they do not set most of the flowers end up on the floor and the slightest disturbance of the plants whilst looking for beans to pick sends a shower of them to the floor, I have tried several things recommended by experts which have had nil effect. The ground is well treated(manure etc )and they get plenty of water. Any advice will be much appreciated

If they have plenty of water and feed it sounds like a pollination problem. A bit late for this year but try planting sweet peas nearby to attract bees.

You could try a fine mist spray morning and evening Teajay. This was the old recommedation, but I read recently that it is just a myth.

    However beans can't read.

Thanks BigT,Haven't tried that one yet, will next year. Using the same batch of plants my son has had a bumper crop, ( he grew sweet peas in with the beans ).

DaveW, thanks for your reply, this is one of the experts advice I tried, did,nt work for me though.amongst the others tried is arthur billet,( The broadcasting gardening expert )advice of a handfull of lime in a watering can given to the base of the plants. That failed too. anyway, musn.t give up, got to get it right. Regards to both. teajay
