Been eating freshly picked toms all week - what a treat! All outdoor ones as well. Are anyone else's ready yet or am I super lucky?

No been eating mine for a couple of weeks, mainly Balcony Red and Yellow, some Gartenperle in baskets outside, no need for those dreadful supermarket toms for a long time now as I freeze the excess! ;)

Well done sparkle. I've had some from the greenhouse but none from the garden.

I did not grow ant outside tomatoes, I have been eating my greenhouse toms afor several weeks now.

Which variety is best for growing outdoors as I will be trying it next year?

    Thanks

I have got some Tumbling Toms and money maker's outside only. There are quite a few green toms, but none are ripe enough to pick as yet. I must admit I was a bit late planting them out this year and am pleasantly surprise at how quick they have come on.

    Sally,
I've got tumbler and gardeners delight. GD got off to a very slow start, I put them out just intime for a hail storm. Both varieties are going to yeald about the same with GD a bit more spread out and tumbler all coming at once. I'm going to grown mostly tumbler next year because they don't need the constant pinching out and tieing in, and don't seem to need so much water. Both varieties a doddle for a first-timer though!

I've some toms that arrived by 'spontaneous combustion'. :D

A house I do work for had a 'water problem' a couple of years ago and in the emergency the resulting blockage material was spread on a border and a few tomato plants come up last year in the garden.

This year I had used some of the garden soil in batch of compost for seed trays and again toms apeared so I potted four of them on and they've been kept in the greenhouse. One is a bit of a don't know and very spindly, two look like Gardeners Delight and one is developing lovely even trusses of medium size toms like the shop bought vine ripened ones.

If I manage to get some good seed from it I'm going to call it 'Immaculate'

:( i have 3 sorts of tomatoes this year and they are ripening nicely BUT they do not taste as I expect.
I have Gartenperle, Moneymaker, and seeds from a Morrison's tomato from Italy 'Dolce Rosso'. These are really nice when I buy them but it's sad to say supermarket ones taste better!
Am I losing my sense of taste, or is there anything I should be doing for good flavour?
    :(
