banana man, it is a well documented fact that some commercial garderner's have been known to play thier crops, especially in poly's & greenhouses music, it is something to do with the vibration, exactly what, i dont know, have you tried playing your crop's any rave, maybe some retro piano, raving just might be good for your root's? lol dominic...

give a man a fish he'll eat for a day
give a man a rod he'll eat forever??????????

Hi dominic, great time of year - loads you can plant for harvest this year and overwintering/crops next year.

From my list for the next three months:

    Sowing for winter crops:
    Salsify
    Scorzonera
    Carrot
    Beetroot
    Komatsuna (Mustard Spinach)
    Kale
    Potatoes

    Sowing for this year
    Dwarf and pole beans
Orientals: Choy Sum, Broccoli Raab, Gai Lan, Mizuna
    Kale
    Chicory
    Lettuce, beetroot, carrots
    Rocket, parsley

    Planting out seedlings of:
Cabbage, sprouting broccoli, brussels sprouts, calabrese, caulis, leeks, globe artichokes

    Sowing for 2007
Overwintering onions (Senshyu Yellow is reliable) by mid-August
Overwintering 'spring' onions in early Sept
Later on - overwintering broadies and peas, garlic in November

Hope that helps - just grow what you enjoy eating!
