More fussing about aubergines

    elainefiz is correct. Apart from that I have a 'rule of thumb' about picking edibles - "don't pick them when you are hungry - as your judgement is not at its best". Otherwise I end up thinking, that looks good let's pick it! How often have you gone shopping for food when you are hungry and come back with more than you needed?

    [​IMG] are these normal?i picked them today cos one of them is loosing its shiney surface.theyre as wide as they are long,about 6inches!ive not grown aubergines before.these are black Prince.

    Do you know how many aubergines are meant to be on each plant? Mine seems to have loads!

    remove growing point when the plant is 12 inches high-stake stems.mist plants regularly to prevent red spider mite and encourage fruit set.when 5 fruits have formed remove lateral shoots and remaining flowers.add a potassium-rich soluble fertilizer with each watering once the fruit have begun to swell.
