we have loads of strawberry feilds here too. This is the first year for ages where I haven't been to pick any. (due to working all hours!!) There is just no comparison to freshly picked strawberries still warm from the sun!!! The ones in the shops are tasteless!!

When you get out the car in the field - the first thing that hits you is the overwhelming sweet smell of strawberries..... mmmmmmm.....

What you see is what you get - except in pre-packaged strawberry!!!

    Enjoy your picking.

I grow my own and they never make it to the kitchen - eat them straight from the plant... gorgeous too.

I'm likr you badsal72. I don't grow many, just in a strawberry pot, but mine don't make it to the kitchen. Shame, as we like them with ground black pepper and whipped cream!

Had a great day strawberry picking at corbridge.
We had a right laugh sitting in the middle of all the strawberry bushes picking them and eating them, Ended up all red juices over my hands down my jeans had a mess and enjoyed every minute of it.going back in a couple of weeks time maybe get some rasberries and gooseberries and of course more strawberries.
When i got back had a great big bowl of them never tasted anything so sweet never buy them in a shop again they where scrummy yummy

We were going to grow strawberries this year, but were to late - probably a good thing too.
We have a few wild strawberry plants in the garden, and my daughter (21 months) discovered them.
Since then we are lucky to even see the ripe strawberries before she picks them off and eats them (can't blame her - just jealous that she gets there first) - she doesn't even wait till the are fully ripe, as long as there is some read on them she eats them - fortunately she hasn't discovered the raspberries yet!

TimD you should take your daughter strawberry picking and she can eat as many as she likes. [IMG]
