Nice one Steve, no better thing than listening to someone talk about something they love. I admire the order of your allotment, I make my plants behave too! You have lots of different produce its great. Have you any pumpkins I love the huge leaves and the orange monsters hidden beneath. In 2004 I visited my aunt and uncle's allotment and I was astonished at the sizes of pumpkins people got them too. You see massive pumpkins on the TV but up close they are huuuuge.

This is my effort, grown in a 1 by 2 foot belfast sink. Its about the size of a kids football.

I know its a bit rubbish, but my then 2 year old sowed the seeds and planted it up.

Thankyou POPPY33 and BANANA MAN for your nice comments, I'm glad you like the videoblog. My son Daniel has got a Pumpkin Plant on his little patch, between us we only try to get a Pumpkin for Halloween so that he can carve it, we don't eat them so only a football size is required. Your 2 year old has done a great job, time with their Dad is precious and to grow a Pumpkin as well even better, thanks once again Steve.

    Hi Steve!!!!

Well, am I impressed or what!!!!! Your allotment must the envy of the site!!! (and your mice very contented!! ;) ) Oh, to have the time....

I look forward to next weeks' installment to the other plot.... you must spend every waking hour down there. I have grand plans for my veggies, but they are going to have to squeezed in between the flowers in the garden next year. We did take on an allotment, but had to give it up several months later, as they gave us a huge plot - far too big for us.

Plotty what a wonderful allotment I am so envious how lovely to have time to spend doing what you enjoy. I have just discovered gardening and have tried a bit of this and that. Love being in the garden and find it very rewarding after being typing in an office all day. I find all your information useful and will plan my garden better for next year and chose my veg better. I just had some packet of seeds that I had acquired from here and there this year but next year now that I know what works I can be more selective.
Keep up the good work. eden

Hi eden, there is a book advertised in all the gardening magazines called 'What shall I do with all these courgettes?' so obviously it's a common problem.

    Lots of ideas here! :D
Plotty, excellent work! I really think an excellent series of programs could be made looking at private [I won't say ordinary] peoples' gardens and allotments . It's inspiring seeing what other members manage!

Liz.There is a programme called The Big Dig that goes round to peoples allotments over several months filming the various stages of vegetable growing.

One of the old boys on our allotments have them coming to him this year.

I think we need to contact them about Plotty and BM
